Our Requirements

You should check all companies on your platform in order to display embedded and correct food hygiene ratings for all establishments you host. The current system of linking to the Food Standards Agency is unacceptable given physical presences in Wales and Northern Ireland are legally required to display their ratings.

You should be more transparent about allergens. A generic message is not okay. Restaurants should have to list all possible allergens and these should be available within the app.

You should be more transparent about specific dietary requirements. All restaurants should be obligated to include information for vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as if meat is, for example, Kosher or Halal. Customers should be able to make an informed decision.

We'd love if you also made it policy so that no establishments below a rating of 3 are hosted on your platform. This would mean establishments be delisted if they're 0, 1 or 2 FSA rated until they improve.

We know this isn't an overnight process but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done at all. Safer Food is more than happy to liaise with any of the three main companies mentioned in the petition as well as any upcoming platforms so that you can launch with Safer Food Accreditation. We'll even provide you with a badge to display in the about sections of your website and apps. The mockup on our homepage shows a scale of 1-5 assuming that 0 isn't considered a rating. We think it would be best for customers if all platforms decide with us on the same visual ratings system.
